Your tour guide in Tanzania

A German-speaking guide will accompany you throughout the safari from and to Arusha. Our guides are native Tanzanians. They will present their homeland to you with great knowledge and enthusiasm!

Best time to travel to Tanzania

Tanzania has a tropical climate. It is warm year-round. In the higher elevations (e.g., the Serengeti at 900–1,850 m), temperatures range from 21–26°C during the day, dropping significantly at night. The coasts and Zanzibar are around 30°C year-round. The rainy season is from mid-March to May. We recommend June–March as the best time to travel.

Your itinerary: Fascinating impressions day after day

Start of your Tanzania tour
You travel individually to Frankfurt Airport. We’ll be happy to book a Rail & Fly ticket for your arrival and departure with Deutsche Bahn. Your Tanzania trip begins in the evening with a flight to Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian Airlines plane takes off, and you’re off to Africa! Soon, the wilderness of the Serengeti isn’t far away.

Welcome to Tanzania!

You’ll land in Addis Ababa and board your connecting flight to your final destination: Tanzania! You’ll be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your cozy lodge in Moshi. In the afternoon, you’ll receive an introduction to the upcoming safari from our German-speaking partner.

Home of the African violet

Early in the morning, you’ll set off on a hike through the Usambara mountain rainforest to a romantic waterfall. In addition to numerous bird species, you might also encounter a chameleon. Incidentally, this area is also home to the light green to purple African violet, which is sadly extinct in the wild but now adorns many German homes as a more violet and blue-flowered houseplant. In the afternoon, drive to your safari camp in the heart of Mkomazi National Park.

Framed by the verdant Usambara and Pare Mountains, a wonderfully relaxing day of safari awaits you in the little-known but extremely worthwhile Mkomazi National Park. Its centerpiece is the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary, a protected area and breeding center for the endangered black rhinos. Mkomazi also has a special conservation program for African wild dogs. Unique natural spectacle

The Great Migration in Tanzania is a phenomenon in which vast herds of animals move in a circular pattern through the Serengeti and Masai Mara, following the rain and thus the lush pastures. Depending on your travel dates, you’ll go on a game drive in either the southern, central, or northern Serengeti by 4×4. This increases your chances of encountering large herds of wildebeest and zebra, in addition to the abundant wildlife year-round.

A fantastic game reserve and intact ecosystem boasts the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, including herds of buffalo, lion families, hippos, countless antelope, and even the rare black rhino. A picnic lunch on the crater floor, then the drive to Karatu.

Tanzania’s animal wealth

Next, we’ll continue our wildlife viewing in the tree-covered savannah landscape of Tarangire National Park. A large elephant population, set against a magical backdrop of giant baobab trees, is one of the special features of this national park. Your safari accommodation is idyllically situated near the riverbed, shaded by giant acacia and sausage trees. In the evening, relax with a cool drink by the campfire.
