Fantastic combination of safari & relaxation on Zanzibar

Safari in an off-road vehicle in a small group

Your entire safari will take place in a well-maintained all-terrain vehicle. There are seven individual window seats, ensuring every guest in your small group sits by the window. There’s also a pop-up safari roof for optimal wildlife viewing conditions.

As close as possible to the big game migration

Within the Serengeti, you’ll stay in different regions depending on the season. In January-February, you’ll stay in Ndutu/South Serengeti, in June in the West, from July to October in the North, and from November to December in the Central-Northern Serengeti. This gives you the best chance of seeing millions of wildebeest and zebra on their annual migration cycle—always following the lush pastures.

Stone Town & Relaxing on Zanzibar

Finally, you’ll spend one night in the old town of Stone Town on Zanzibar. Enjoy a detailed tour, including a visit to the fragrant market and a Swahili dinner with a local family. Afterwards, you’ll head off to the Indian Ocean beach for three days of relaxation!

Filmed for you: The 14-day Tanzania Great Migration trip in a 4-minute short film. A mountain warriors camera team accompanied a tour group and presents the highlights of this trip

Your tour guide in Tanzania

A German-speaking Tanzanian guide will accompany you throughout the safari from and to Arusha. Our German-speaking guide, who is a native of Zanzibar, will greet you in Stone Town. This means you’ll always have an expert by your side!

Best time to travel to Tanzania

Tanzania has a tropical climate. It is warm year-round. In the higher elevations (e.g., the Serengeti at 900–1,850 m), temperatures range from 21–26°C during the day, dropping significantly at night. In Zanzibar, temperatures are around 30°C year-round. The rainy season is from mid-March to May. We recommend June–March as the best time to travel.

Your itinerary: Fascinating impressions day after day

Start your journey

Today, you begin your journey to Tanzania. Individual arrival at Frankfurt Airport. In the evening, you’ll fly with Ethiopian Airlines to Addis Ababa. Are you already looking forward to your safari experience in the Serengeti, Tarangire National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater? Soon, the wait will be over, and your long-awaited dream will become reality!

Welcome to Kilimanjaro!
In the morning, you’ll fly to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. On the drive to your lodge, you’ll see Mount Kilimanjaro, if it’s not shrouded in clouds. In a tropical garden with a pool and coffee plants, you’ll have time to acclimatize, sip a cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy a sundowner to kick off your East African journey. An introduction to the safari will be given by our local, German-speaking partner.
A welcome dinner will follow.

You’ll travel to Tarangire National Park, with its savannah landscape, through which the Tarangire River winds. Massive baobab trees and seasonal swamplands dominate Tanzania’s landscape. Animal abundance in the Serengeti

The famous Serengeti awaits you! Cross the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the Masai and their herds of cattle, and head for the Nabi Hill gateway to the Serengeti. En route to camp, you’ll experience your first magnificent game drive in Tanzania’s most famous national park—a byword for Africa since Grzimek’s documentary “Serengeti Shall Not Die!” Depending on the season, you’ll spend the night in a different region of the Serengeti to be close to the migrating herds.

Exciting all year round
You’ll experience the Great Migration in a different part of the Serengeti depending on the season. In January/February, you’ll witness the birth of the young in the south. In June, the animals graze in the western corridor near the Grumeti River, and from July to October, the animals migrate north across the Mara River, crossing which is a unique natural spectacle when the crocodiles go hunting. Depending on the season, you’ll stay overnight in the respective region and get up close to the animals!

Last game drive
One last game drive through the Serengeti—perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to spot a pack of female big cats hunting? Afterwards, you’ll leave Tanzania’s most famous park and travel to the adjacent Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You’ll stay in the highlands near the crater rim, perfectly positioned for the next morning’s safari! A crackling campfire follows dinner.

Animals in a unique setting
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, rightly called the eighth wonder of the world! The lush pastures support an immense number of animals: up to 25,000 mammals inhabit the crater at any one time. Unique in Tanzania! The abundant food supply of antelope magically attracts big cats, which is why the crater is home to one of the largest predator populations in all of Africa. Large colonies of pink flamingos can occasionally be seen at the saline Lake Magadi.
